Spring is officially here, and for many of us, that marks the start of spring cleaning. The following recipes are all-natural, so you can feel confident about using them year-round. If you’re looking for ways to get your home squeaky clean without the harsh chemicals, consider the tips and tricks we share here.

Clean Your Microwave With Lemon Water

If you’d like to avoid using synthetic cleaners around your food, skip the store-bought cleaning supplies and opt for a natural solution, instead. Microwaves tend to get dirty quickly, and it can be difficult to find a cleaning product that’s gentle yet effective. To fix this dilemma, simply mix half a cup of water with the juice of one large lemon. Microwave the mixture for three minutes, and allow the solution to stand for five minutes before removing. After allowing the steam to fill the area for five minutes, use a cloth to wipe away grease and grime.

Make Your Own Oven Cleaner

Industrial-strength oven cleaners are notorious for their strong odor, and you may even feel ill if exposed to the fumes. If you’d prefer to steer clear of aggressive smells, make your own oven cleaner with baking soda and vinegar. To safely clean your oven, sprinkle a generous layer of baking soda on the bottom of the appliance, and follow up with a few splashes of vinegar (too much will flood the oven). After bubbles start to form, close the oven door and allow the solution to sit for about four hours. As a final step, take a sponge or rag and wipe down the area. The result should be a sparkling clean oven that’s free from harsh odors.

Natural Glass Cleaner

If the mirrors and other glass surfaces in your home could use a little TLC, skip the conventional cleaners and try a DIY solution. Vinegar is naturally effective at breaking down dirt and grime, and all you’ll need to enjoy crystal clear mirrors is a 50/50 blend of vinegar and water. Combine the ingredients in a spray bottle and apply liberally to the desired area. If you have microfiber cloths handy, use them to wipe away the excess moisture. A dishrag or old shirt will also do the trick!

This spring, get crafty and consider the DIY solutions outlined here. They’re low-cost, 100 percent natural, and will leave your home smelling fresh.
