Boulder County Fair: August 7-11, 2024

The Boulder County Fair is set to take place in Longmont, Colorado on August 7th-11th. Whether you’re hoping to sink your teeth into a funnel cake, spend all your savings trying to win a giant plush prize at the ring toss, or give the Ferris wheel a whirl, this fair is the perfect way to get the most out of summer before fall arrives.

Located at the Boulder County Fairgrounds on Nelson Road, the Boulder County Fair is the oldest fair in the state. For 154 years, it has celebrated agricultural, community, and farming traditions. Admission to the fair and parking are free, and tokens for the carnival can be purchased on a ride-by-ride or all-access basis.

Rides, Games, and Rodeos

The carnival portion of the fair is open during the afternoons and evenings and scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, August 7th: 5pm-11pm

Thursday, August 8th: 12pm-11pm

Friday, August 9th: 2pm-11pm

Saturday, August 10th: 2pm-11pm

Sunday, August 11th: 2pm-10pm

Single-ride prices range from $4 to $8 while unlimited-ride wristbands cost $35. Thursday, August 8th, is Kid’s Day, and unlimited-ride wristbands will be available for $20 if purchased before 4 pm.

In addition to carnival rides, games, and food, the fair features a rodeo, swine show, live entertainment, a petting zoo, livestock shows and sales, and a demolition derby.

Pre-Carnival Festivities

While the carnival kicks off on August 7th, pre-carnival activities begin the week before, starting July 30th. These activities feature a wide range of animal-centric, farm-focused, and whimsically Western activities and include dog agility contests, horse shows, a kickoff parade, exhibitions, a rabbit show, a dog show, and a goat show.

If you are enlivened by livestock, these events are an excellent way to connect with nature and cultivate a connection with the land. If the only thing you’re hoping to connect with is a prime seat on a rollercoaster, that’s okay, too; this fair offers something for everyone. Come on down for a day or five of some old-fashioned family fun, adventure, and amusement.
