Ready to kick off the holiday season? Stop by Roosevelt Park to celebrate with the community at Longmont Lights. This annual tradition is just around the corner, so we share the details here:
About the Celebration
Longmont Lights is a fun-filled event that’s perfect for getting excited about the holidays. During the celebration, Main Street will be transformed into a dazzling light display to set the tone for the season. In addition to the abundance of twinkling lights, a parade and other festivities are on the schedule for the evening. Approximately 60 festive floats are set to make an appearance, along with Longmont’s talented high school marching bands. The theme this year is March of the Toys, so expect a night full of joyful entertainment.
When and Where
Longmont Lights will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9. If you’re planning on driving to the event, be sure to arrive early—there are several parking lots around the Roosevelt Park area to choose from, but they may fill up quickly. All parking lots located off Coffman Street are scheduled to close at 3:00 p.m. to accommodate the parade, so avoid parking in these areas unless you’re able to stay until 8:00 p.m. The floats and performers will begin at the Memorial Building and conclude at 8th Avenue, and there are plenty of vantage points to watch the show. For a map of the parade plans, visit this website.
Additional Details
The event is expected to go on regardless of weather conditions. If this sounds like a can’t-miss occasion, just monitor the weather and arrive in appropriate attire to stay comfortable. Even though the celebration is held outdoors, please leave your furry friends at home, as loud music and people in costume might startle them.
While the official Longmont Lights parade is on December 9 only, there are several holiday-themed activities available in Roosevelt Park throughout the day on December 8. Santa’s Workshop is a great option, and attendees will have the opportunity to create a craft and meet with Santa. Other festivities on Friday include live reindeer at St. Vrain Memorial Building, hot cocoa carts, and delicious meals from a variety of food trucks—just to name a few. The schedule varies, so if you’re interested in a specific event, check the details before heading out.
