Summertime and fresh peaches go hand in hand. If you’re on the search for the best peaches in Colorado, stop by the 52nd annual Palisade Peach Festival for some food and fun. This festival is one of the oldest agricultural gatherings in Colorado and dates back to “Peach Days” in the late 1800s. Interested in attending? Here’s what you need to know:
The Palisade Peach Festival is scheduled for August 13-15 in Palisade, Colorado. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all ticket purchases must be made online. Please visit this site to purchase your ticket(s).
World-famous Palisade peaches have been a mainstay in Colorado’s history since the Harlow family settled the land in 1882. By the early 20th century, this small town was shipping out thousands of pounds of peaches per day. This legacy remains true: peaches grown in Palisade are recognized as among the best in the world, and visitors travel from out of state to taste the fresh fruits grown in this region.
The Palisade Peach Festival is an excellent opportunity for Coloradans and visitors from across the country to sample fresh peaches, apricots, cherries, and more. The event kicks off on Thursday, August 14 at 5:30 pm with a free ice cream social and street dance in the Downtown Plaza. A bevy of activities are on the schedule each day, including live music, market vendors selling a plethora of peach products, and many more festivities. Be sure to stay for the Biggest Peach Contest—previous winners have weighed in at an impressive 1 lb. 15 oz!
Additional events are available for your enjoyment, such as Feast in the Fields dinners that feature farm-to-fork cuisine prepared by local top chefs and paired with Palisade wines. To learn more about individual events, please take a look at the schedule to plan your visit. If you’d like to make a weekend out of the Peach Festival, Palisade is home to several accommodations to fit your needs.
Although the Palisade Peach Festival is only here from August 13-15, the Palisade Sunday Farmers’ Market on August 16 is a great capstone to the festival. This region of Colorado is well-known for producing the finest fruits and vegetables around, so those who love fresh produce won’t want to miss out on this farmer’s market. The market is available from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm and vendors will offer farm fresh products such as produce, eggs, bread, and more.
