Summertime in Colorado is filled with fun; long days, warm weather, and an abundance of mosquito repellent all merge together to create Mile High magic. Of course, the festivals coming down the pike certainly don’t hurt.
With so many events scheduled to take place, there's something for everyone, including these five favorites:
The Manitou Springs Colorado Wine Festival sidesteps Sonoma and nixes Napa to — instead — celebrate the wines made right here in the Centennial State. Come sample the grapes from various local wineries and vendors and top it all off with tasty food, live music, and more. Whether you’re passionate about Pinot or sing hurrah for a rich Syrah, June 4th is sure to be a corky, quirky good time!
A festival filled with music, camaraderie, and warm Colorado nights, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival is the epitome of summertime fun. Now in its 49th year, the 2022 lineup includes Tenacious D, Watchhouse, Twisted Pine, and Aoife O'Donovan. Come dance the day and evening away, sample fine food, and take in the ambiance that only the San Juan Mountains can offer. The festival takes place June 16th-19th.
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is the picture-perfect way to kick off July in contemporary style. Celebrating its 31st year, this event showcases the region’s finest painters, illustrators, sculptors, performers, and culinary artists. It includes an eclectic lineup of live music as well, with three stages located throughout the festival grounds. It’s free to attend, but VIP passes and tickets to the opening gala are available. The event takes place July 1st-3rd.
Leadville Boom Days is an offbeat experience at 10,200 feet. An event that honors the town’s Wild West roots and mining heritage, this festival is packed full of competitions, reenactments, food, live music, exhibits, a parade, a car show, and more. Truly unique to the event is the International Pack Burro Race, a contest where participants lead their burros through a course in a quest to be first. Grab your donkey or cheer on someone else’s! Leadville Boom Days take place August 5th-7th and is free to attend.
It’s no surprise that Palisade is considered the “Peach Capital of Colorado”; every third weekend in August, the town celebrates the Palisade Peach Festival where peach lovers unite for a juicy jubilee. Take part in the peach eating contest, sip on peach brandy, or try a slice of peach pie; this festival’s delicious, either way. Enjoy entertainment, children’s activities, and live music between bites.
There are tons of Colorado festivals to choose from. Whether you opt to head for the hills or stay close to the city, it’s hard to go wrong with song, fun, sun, and food.
