Everyone loves when the sun sets on July 4th and the fireworks begin, but there’s plenty to do near our apartments during the day, as well. One event we’d like to highlight is the 4th of July Summer Concert in the Park. Here’s what you need to know for another unforgettable summer celebration:
WHERE?
There are four prominent places in Longmont that have remained as anchors of the town since inception: the Imperial Hotel, Dickens Opera House, Roosevelt Park, and Thompson Park. Where could there be a better place to celebrate America’s independence than at one of the first and longest lasting establishments in Colorado (especially since Thompson Park is only a short five miles away from your front door here at VerraWest Apartments)?
WHEN?
The Summer Concert in the Park will start at 11:30 a.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m., giving you plenty of time to enjoy the day’s roster of festivities and get back home before heading out to your favorite place to watch fireworks over the night sky.
EVENTS
This Independence Day Summer Concert in the Park includes true throwback performances by the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, Longmont Youth Symphony, and Longmont Chorale. Patriotic music takes the day, with cannons accompanying Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and other American musical staples from the last 200+ years.
Other events include a picnic contest with prizes for the best-set patriotically inspired picnic displays, and more.
SCHEDULE
At 11:30 a.m. the Longmont Youth Symphony takes center stage for an hour of outstanding musical ensembles performed by the talented young musicians of the Longmont Youth Symphony.
At 12:30 p.m. the Longmont Chorale is slated to perform a number of festive and patriotic songs during their thirty-minutes on stage leading into the critically acclaimed Longmont Symphony with an hour-long performance.
At 1:00 p.m. the Longmont Symphony will close out this mid-day 4th of July Summer Concert in the Park event. With an hour-long performance of a varied selection of symphonies, you’re sure to find yourself truly in the holiday spirit this July 4th.
