Longmont, Colorado’s July 4th Concert in the Park

America’s independence means a variety of things to our patriotic population. For some, it’s a day to hang with the family at a laid-back barbeque. For others, it’s a chance to get outside and enjoy the summer weather. For Longmont’s diverse and close-knit community, the July 4th Concert in the Park is a time-honored tradition that the city looks forward to each year. Here’s what we’re excited about!

When and Where:

The event starts at 11:30 am on Thursday, July 4 at Thompson Park. This 4.2-acre park has plenty of room for picnic blankets and kids’ activities so bring the whole family. Activities will run through 2 pm.

About the Concert:

Each year, the Longmont Symphony Orchestra gathers at Thompson Park to entertain local residents and out of town visitors with moving, patriotic music. Founded in 1966, this non-profit organization seeks to educate and inspire Longmont, and the entire St. Vrain Valley, through symphonic music. They also provide opportunities for underserved members of our community to hear a live orchestra.

This year, the Longmont Youth Symphony will play at 11:45 am, followed at 12:30 pm by the Longmont Chorale. The Longmont Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at 1:00 pm and will play for a full hour.

In addition to spectacular symphonic performances, the event also hosts a picnic contest. Judges from the Longmont Association of Realtors will weigh in on the tastiest looking picnics and award prizes to the top ten baskets. Registration for the contest begins at 11 am and participants are encouraged to get creative with their picnic baskets. Spice up the potato salad and pack a feast fit for a king!

For a memorable 4th of July and a chance to mingle with Longmont’s talented, interesting community, head down to Thompson Park and experience the musical stylings of our beloved area orchestra.
