Fall-Inspired Desserts Beyond Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie is among the most popular holiday treats, and for good reason. However, it’s not the only fall dessert that tickles the taste buds. There are all sorts of goods and sweets that hit the spot during the holidays and all season long. These’ll likely whet your appetite:

Pumpkin Bread

Pumpkin bread goes beyond pumpkin pie, even if it doesn’t venture too far. This recipe makes a loveable loaf in about an hour and a half. It’s a flavorful treat that’s packed with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. It’s also one of the few “desserts” that can also work as breakfast.

Apple Spice Cake

This apple spice cake recipe just tastes like the holidays. Made with cloves, nutmeg, brown sugar, orange zest, pecans, Fuji apples, cream cheese, and more, it provides the perfect fall kick and after-dinner delight. It’s an ideal potluck contribution…that you conveniently forget to bring. ;)

Pecan Pralines

There is something about the holidays that leaves many people craving pralines, and this recipe answers that call. Made with only a handful of ingredients and in roughly 20 minutes, pralines are a simple and sweet treat beloved by all ages. They store for up to two months in the freezer, as well, not that you’ll have any leftovers.

Salted Butter-Pecan Shortbread Cookies

These salted butter-pecan shortbread cookies hit the spot. Made with butter, sugar, and tons of pecans, the recipe ironically doesn’t call for salt. But feel free to add it if you favor particularly salty things.

Holiday Fudge

Fudge is another dessert that comes out of the woodwork as the holidays beckon. This recipe is extremely easy to make and even easier to enjoy. Made in 15 minutes, this fudge uses ingredients that include sugar, evaporated milk, brown sugar, semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, and marshmallow fluff. Don’t have a candy thermometer? Don’t worry, you won’t need one for this simple creation.

It can be tempting to fill up on pumpkin pie this holiday season, but sometimes you’ve got to think outside the pie pan and limit yourself to a slice or two. That way, you can give your sweet tooth the variety it deserves.
