Easy Ways to Decorate Your Home with Flowers

In the depths of winter, we all benefit from a splash of color and a reminder of springtime - one of the greatest seasons in Colorado. Fortunately, florists and grocers have an abundance of cut flowers we can fill our homes with to add a little more life. Here are a few simple ways to bring fresh cut flowers into your living areas to share joy with all who enter, including you.

Benefits of Having Flowers in Your Home

Besides making your living room, bathroom, or bedroom look delightful, flowers have been scientifically proven to boost moods and promote positive mental health. Depending on the types of flowers you choose, they can diffuse a sweet, light aroma into your home. A gorgeous flower arrangement draws the eye, sparks conversation, and can even promote creativity and inspiration.

Create Small Arrangements for Shelving

Flower arranging is an artform, but anyone can try it and elevate their skills by learning simple hacks. Start by practicing with small arrangements that contain a few flowers and sprigs of greenery. These can sit in the bathroom, on shelves, or can be given away to the neighbors. Use mason jars or clean recycled glass jars so as not to feel burdened by purchasing anything new. Invite a friend and go thrifting to find inexpensive and small vintage vases.

Get Creative with Floral Centerpieces

Hosting a dinner party or gathering? What a perfect excuse to grab a bunch of flowers and greenery and make a beautiful centerpiece! Arrangements don’t have to come in the form of upright vases, but can be done in horizontal ones or by wrapping the ends of flowers in wet cloth and foil. Hide the end underneath the garland to keep flowers fresh through the duration of your party.

In the Kitchen

Because the kitchen is usually the main thoroughfare of any home, create a large and vibrant arrangement for your countertop or table. This is a fantastic way to add a pop of color and inject life into this common gathering space. Consider using short vases to create low and robust arrangements that don’t obstruct the view of something sitting at the bar or table.

Cold weather gives us a great excuse to stay home and nest. Adding flowers is an inexpensive and beautiful way to bring pops of color and life into your home.
